Our Diversity & Inclusion Statement

Our most important asset: Diversity

For OTTO, diversity is an integral, indispensable part of our modern society and is part of the foundation of our corporate culture

In our D&I work, the focus is on people in their diversity and individuality. That is why we understand diversity to mean the equal value of all people - regardless of the characteristics of individual diversity dimensions. That is why we work with our employees to promote and maintain the active participation of all. This is part of our corporate culture. Both at OTTO and in society as well as in Germany as a business location, we would like to be a role model for D&I. For us, openness, respect and acceptance are the guiding values to which we are fully committed.

For this reason, OTTO not only signed the "Diversity Charter" in October 2012, but also became the first Hamburg company to become a member of the association on April 1, 2019. At the heart of the diversity dimensions is the personality of the individual. In the context of the D&I strategy, we at OTTO speak of valuing differences in this context.

In addition to the core dimensions, there are learned or acquired characteristics that describe the interaction of different ways of thinking, skills, experiences and competencies. The appreciation of these differences is encompassed by the term inclusion. We want to create a working environment in which all people can be authentic, contribute their personality, grow and develop.
Such a diverse and inclusive work environment is characterized by an embracing corporate culture and is characterized by equal opportunities, identification and togetherness.

This makes it all more important for us to self-reflect on our own privileges and promote allyship. Supporting the active engagement of our employees* is what makes up our D&I core message: Diversity. Stand behind it.
