Editor Verena Kolb Reading time: 1 Minute
Cotton - a natural fiber that is now found in half of all textiles worldwide. But what is actually so special about the raw material and why is demand increasing from year to year?

The UN's World Cotton Day will take place on October 7, 2021. What is it all about? Raising awareness for the production, processing and trade of cotton. Because the natural fiber, which is becoming increasingly popular, is a resource-intensive plant to grow. It must be grown and produced sustainably.

Cotton is also very important at OTTO. That's why Benjamin Köhler, head of the sustainability team, told us in an interview what role the natural fiber plays in his everyday work, what significance the Cotton made in Africa initiative has in this regard, and why it's so important to talk about the topic.
