Hamburg, 4 March 2005 – German internet users have voted www.otto.de "Most popular Website 2004" in the online shop category. In this category, Germany's most important online shops put themselves to the vote. More than 122,000 users took part in the two-month competition, jointly organized by the market research institute MetrixLab and the magazine Internet. This public prize, awarded this year for the first time ever, is given to those websites that have managed to gather most votes. There were ten categories to choose from: auctions, cars, communities, games & humour, news, portals, magazines, TV, travel, and shops.
"This award is of particular importance to us, because the internet users themselves have cast their vote,” emphasized Dr. Thomas Schnieders, Head of New Media at OTTO. "For that reason, we see this vote as both reward and incentive, and it also confirms us in our aim of offering a particularly good service to our customers and further to optimize otto.de in the pursuit of that target."
In 2004, OTTO expanded its online catalogue at www.otto.de by a number of innovative functions in order to make it easier to shop at the OTTO Online Shop. Amongst them are a significantly simplified ordering process, comparative fast loading times compared with the competition, and the new and unique Styling Shop. In this virtual dressing room, customers can mix and match their desired outfit to their hearts content and see it worn by a virtual fashion model. This year, the OTTO Online Shop celebrates its tenth anniversary - a nice round figure that OTTO marks for its customers with attractive offers and several special promotions.
